World Refrigeration Day recap

June 27, 2024

AIRAH celebrated June 26, World Refrigeration Day, with the first event in the Heat pumps in the spotlight series at Woolworths, Burwood Brickworks.

Many thanks to the Woolworths team who showed us through the facility and explained the transcritical CO2 system. And thanks also to co-organisers FMA and A2EP, and sponsor RACE for 2030.

In the evening, AIRAH attended a special event in Geelong – the home of refrigeration pioneer James Harrison.

Advocacy and Policy Manager Mark Vender was joined by Victorian Division Committee Chair Rula Karali, M.AIRAH, and refrigeration consultant Andrew Pang, AM.AIRAH, to mark World Refrigeration Day as well as the 170th anniversary of James Harrison inventing and patenting his world-first mechanical refrigeration system.

Many thanks to Lex Chalmers and Graham Hobbs from the Geelong and Region Branch of the National Trust for the invitation.
