NSW reviewing Design and Building Practitioners Act

June 6, 2024

The NSW government is reviewing the Design and Building Practitioners (DBP) Act, which requires engineers to be professionally registered, as well as the Residential Apartment Buildings (Compliance and Enforcement Powers) Act 2020.

Comments are invited on various aspects of the acts, including whether the policy objectives remain valid, and whether the terms remain effective for securing those objectives. The review will also consider whether to establish an independent NSW Building Commission to exercise the regulatory and oversight functions under this act and other acts relating to the construction of buildings.

The consultation closes on July 2, 2024.
