Allianz Stadium – A.G. Coombs
Hosting its first event in September, 2022, the new state-of-the-art Allianz Stadium is located
in Sydney’s Moore Park. The 42,500-capacity world-class stadium builds on the legacy of the
previous stadiums located on the same site: the Sydney Sports Ground (1899) and the original
Sydney Football Stadium, which opened as a Bicentennial project in 1988.
For the new build, the highly collaborative A.G. Coombs and LCI team delivered an innovative
high-performance mechanical and HVAC system to meet rigorous functionality requirements while
also targeting ambitious sustainability targets.
Red Valley Mushrooms – SEQUAL
Red Valley Mushrooms is an 8,500m2 facility located in a remote region of Queensland, three hours
north of Cairns.
The facility has been designed specifically for large-scale production of a variety of gourmet
mushrooms. It caters for all stages of mushroom production, from creation of substrate and
growing and maturing rooms, through to packaging and storage before delivery.
The HVAC plant maintains individual, close-controlled environmental conditions within 18
production rooms and eight maturing rooms, which are customisable to suit the specific
requirements of the variety of mushroom being produced.
Snow Concert Hall – Benmax
Engaged under a D&C contract, Benmax delivered the HVAC services for the 3,100m2 purpose-built
music facility. The five-storey building includes an acoustically tuned concert hall with
capacity for 1,400 people, tuition rooms, music classrooms, student commons, and library.
Features include a partial subterranean design, with the new construction sitting 15m below
neighbouring buildings; geothermal energy (ground-source heat pump) technology to condition the
structure and support a 50 per cent reduction in annual energy use; acoustic isolation and
attenuation considerations; exposed services; use of BIM technology; and prefabricated modular
construction enabling installation of the primary plant room in under eight hours.
