Mark is the Advocacy and Policy Manager at AIRAH. He is AIRAH’s representative on the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Permit Scheme Industry Advisory Group (ACRPSIAG), created by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) to ensure that key stakeholders can provide advice on a range of refrigeration and air conditioning permit scheme issues and enhancement projects. Mark was heavily involved in the project to update the Refrigerant Handling Codes of Practice.
Natalie is Assistant Director in the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas regulatory team at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. She worked in various roles at the WA Department of Water and Environment Regulation, Environmental Appeals Convenor and Office of the Auditor General before moving into the Federal public service.
Natalie’s PhD at the University of Freiburg looked at how social and environmental issues are portrayed in Australian public culture. This led to a passion for how good public administration can benefit the environment while supporting communities to thrive.
Can you handle this - New codes for HVAC&R technicians
New editions of the Australian and New Zealand Refrigerant Handling Codes of Practice are now available. The updated editions replace the previous 2007 versions and incorporate changes in standards, regulations, environmental and safety practices, refrigerants and technology. The Refrigerant Handling Codes of Practice provide vital information for air conditioning and refrigeration technicians. Compliance with the codes is mandatory for anyone holding a refrigerant handling licence or refrigerant trading authorisation through the Australian Refrigeration Council.
This session will describe the process of revising the codes, including the evolving industry landscape that made the changes necessary, the process of technical review and stakeholder consultation, and issues highlighted in the public comment draft. The presenters will also discuss other resources that could support HVAC&R technicians into the future.
