Residential Rangehood Strategies and the impact on IAQ
Control of fine particulate matter within buildings is one important element in providing good indoor air quality. In a residential enviroment cooking on a cooktop is one of the largest generators of hazardous PM2.5 particulates. Rangehood effectiveness is therefore important in controlling these particulates. This presentation provides a comparison between recirculating and externally discharging rangehoods using measured PM2.5 levels, and discusses the impacts on energy use and risks of these strategies might create.
