About Dr Max Sherman

Dr. Max Sherman is a distinguished Senior Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) with over 30 years of experience in building physics. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, where his dissertation focused on air natural infiltration in buildings. Dr. Sherman is internationally recognized for his groundbreaking work in ventilation, natural infiltration, and indoor air quality. Professor Sherman is a Fellow of both the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ), and a Board Member and U.S. representative of the Air Infiltration and Ventilation Center (AIVC< Brussels).

He has served as the Co-Chairman of the IAQ 2020 Conference at ASHRAE and co-chairs ASHRAE 241 (Control of Infectious Aerosols), and chair of ASHRAE 62.2 (Ventilation and Acceptable Indoor Air Quality in Residential Buildings). Professor Sherman was one of the youngest to be made an ASHRAE Fellow and has had a distinguished career since being elevated including winning the Holladay Distinguished Fellow award — the Society’s highest technical level.
